The Hub for Clinical Collaboration
A new 17 story building that supports the future vision of a complex medical campus by decanting over 2,000 physicians and associated staff’s office space to make room for patient-serving projects. The building supports the connected campus by creating a network of superhighways and “hubs” that support busy physicians with amenities and serve the collective mission to attract and retain the best clinical talent.

A precursor to the project, the Faculty Clinical Office(FCO) Study consisted of interviews, surveys, and extensive job shadows that led to deep insight of physicians specific needs and culture. In addition to delivering to a clean and sophisticated design, the on-site team acted as partners in navigating user’s change management fears.
As a key member of the FCO study team, I contributed to the collection of data and specific user requests that drove project decisions. While spending weeks on site, I gained unique insight into physician work flow and culture. I also led the fit-out effort of 15 unique floors by using a strategy of flexibility that balanced the need for privacy with daylight and views.
The typical floor plan was designed to be modular and flexible in order to support dynamic shifts in recruitment and growth. A focus on caregiver respite and well-being prioritizes access to natural light, views and break areas. Amenities are intentionally and conveniently placed along common paths of travel to support caregivers as they carry out their mission-driven days
Our team partnered with the various stakeholders to create a highly efficient facility, intended to balance the needs for privacy and focus, enhance collaboration, facilitate community, and express divisional identity. Acoustical, ergonomic, and audiovisual performance support the needs of the diverse clinical groups, as they work throughout the campus and increasingly rely on technology for collaboration.
